The start of spring, and the start of a new life for Joanna & Callum!
I first met Callum and Joanna during their pre-wedding shoot in the West End of Dundee. They were both so friendly, relaxed and so obviously in love - the kind of couple whose easy chemistry makes photographing them a pleasure from the very first moment.
They booked my full-day package for their relaxed ceremony & reception at Silverwood Lodge Resort in Errol, which gave us eight hours of coverage from bridal prep through a few songs after the first dance. I was especially excited for this one because Callum is a photographer himself (no pressure!) and Joanna runs a vlog (cherk out her page on insta - Joanna's Coffee Corner) , so I just knew they’d bring creative ideas and a real eye for what mattered to them.
Family was very clearly the focus of the day. Joanna’s mum was a quietly grounding presence throughout preparations, and Joanna’s father, equally warm and lovely as his wife, officiated the ceremony. That personal touch made the vows particularly emotional, and it became clear during the speeches how fully Callum has been welcomed into the family. The couple had 8 speeches, half of which were before the meal and the rest afterwards (which the hungry guests appreciated!).
The couple chose shades of pink for their accents, a beautiful complement to the rustic, rural feel of Silverwood. They also skipped the traditional three-course dinner in favor of in-house wood-fired pizzas, and they were as good as they sounded. Casual, communal and delicious, it felt like the perfect fit for their day.
For portraits we did two short sessions, one during the day and another as the sun began to set. We missed golden hour by just a little, but Silverwood rewarded us with gorgeous, soft light that gave both sets of images a distinct mood, one bright and candid and the other warm and intimate. This wedding felt honest, thoughtful and wholly theirs, creative partners who also know how to celebrate with family and good food.
